A Long Way on a Windy Day

Recently I had the opportunity to take my Fortwo out for a bit of a longer journey, so I thought I'd share with you (as promised) what I thought of the Smart in windy weather conditions and over a longer period of time.

First of all I have to talk about the wind. With the car weighing in at only 1500lbs, and not being particularly aerodynamic, it definitely can get blown around. The wind tends to push the car from side to side, causing you to need to steer into it a bit to stay in the right direction. On the bright side, this effect isn't noticeable  unless there is a strong wind hitting the sides of the car. Another perk of having a small and light car is that it rarely gets pulled towards larger trucks as they pass, unlike larger vehicles do.

Now to talk about the Smart hitting the highway! I was very impressed with the Smart's performance and I was surprised to discover that I felt just fine even when I was driving directly beside transport trucks and the like. The car had no issues getting up to and maintaining speed, and definitely held its own on the road.

All in all, it once again outdid my expectations, giving me even more reason to love it!

P.S. An Apology:
Sorry to all of my readers for my brief absence, I have been swamped with work lately and sadly couldn't find the time to write.

A Quick Pic

Hello everyone!
I just wanted to put up a quick post to mention that I have now added a few photo sections to the blog. I hope to soon be adding a video series as well. Please if you have any thing you'd like to share, leave a comment to ask for something in specific or send me a link if there's a picture or video you'd like to see on the blog.

I have also added some new sharing features below the posts and on the sidebar for those who love Smart, and want to include their buddies!

Thanks for all your great support, stay tuned to hear about how my fortwo fared on its first long-distance (and rather windy) journey.

My Car is a Geek

Hello everyone! First of all, thank you for your interest in my previous article! Today I hope to bring you some more exciting information about the electronics of the car.

In my particular model of the Smart Passion Cabriolet I ordered the futuristic-sounding "Innovation Package". It comes with a lovely LCD multimedia touch screen, a deafening (in the best of ways) 8-channel surround sound speaker system and a whopping sub-woofer in the back of the car, and don't let me forget the dual-temperature heated seats!

Touchy Feely

The Smart's LCD touch screen can do just about anything you ask of it, and I mean that literally, many features are voice activated! After a bit of exploring I've discovered some pretty neat stuff. The touchscreen can display videos, and pictures, so you wont ever be bored waiting for someone. Simply pop in your favourite DVD, USB, or SD card with a video file on it, grab some popcorn and enjoy the show! Now, that your done waiting for that friend, date, messenger pigeon, or whatever else you happen to have been waiting for, you might not know how to get where you're going. Not to worry though, your Smart does. Equipped with a rather talkative GPS, the smart can take you where you're going from wherever you are. Now, on the way to your movie, romantic dinner, or local pigeon feed store, you might get a call. With all the new traffic laws concerning cell phones, this would be a concerning development for most. Thankfully, the Smart has got your back. With the Bluetooth handsfree, you can listen to music, make calls, and even search your address book all

 using the LCD touch screen.

All in all, the versatile LCD touch screen is a joy to use, and definitely a "smart" investment.

D-D-D-D-Drop the Bass

Nothing beats the feeling of pulling up to your destination with your hair blowing in the wind, and your tunes blasting. With the Smart 8-channel surround sound system, I have consistently been getting great sound out of the speakers, with the top down or up. The speakers aren't just loud, they produce quality sound comparable to Bose or Pioneer sound systems. With all of the default EQ settings (which are highly customisable) Alternative and rock songs produce the warm treble that one should expect and dance and dubstep songs produce defined noises, and bass you can feel from head to toe. You can play all of your music from your phone, a USB, an SD card, or an iPod or iPhone.
My USB happens to be the shape of a Mercedes  key.

To sum up... I love it more every day!

Post in the comments below if you have any questions, I'll be sure to reply promptly.

First Impressions

I woke up today, on a frigid October morning barely able to contain my excitement. Today, I'd be purchasing my new Smart Passion Cabriolet. I stepped through the doors of the dealership, and gazed upon my beautiful new half-car. Shimmering white, with a decidedly retro red interior, and a quaint little antenna popping up off my left mirror. It looked fantastic! The real beauty came out when I took the little guy for a spin.

The Smart car has within it (under the mat in your trunk to be precise) a 3-cylinder turbo-charged engine, that can bring the car up from zero to 60 mph in a bit over 12 seconds. So, I wasn't expecting too much from it. However, I was wrong. The car only weighs about 1500 lbs, so off the line, it was pretty quick! I was amazed to find that not only was my acceleration wonderfully responsive, my steering was too! The car made all the proper rumbly noises you'd expect from a sporty car, leaving me, with my jaw dropping a little.

All in all, the car has left a wonderful first impression. Stay tuned for more of my opinions on the car, and everything it has in store for me, and anyone else interested in one!
